My Christmas Wish List!
I do love the finer things in life, most of which I can not afford …. yet …. but I can always still wish for some things.
Here is my Christmas wish list :
1. Lady Dior Bag … so classic, elegant and I wish for one of these in Grey. cost $2700 USD. But I this would be a lifetime investment, I can’t see this going out of style. So if I split the cost over 20 years it would essentially be like buying one crappy synthetic purse each year.
2. Christian Louboutin shoes – something with a little sparkle and shine, I LOVE these, might even see if I can swing it into my wedding budget and wear them on the big day. They aren’t that expensive ($600) and would be amazing for the holiday season!

3. Tiffany <3, what girl doesn’t love Tiffany and Co?? I do have a few silver pieces from here but if I could have my way it would be this amazing vintage inspired necklace, Green tourmaline and diamond pendant on a platinum chain for $23 300! It’s so beautiful and when I win the lottery it will be my first purchase.

But besides all the superficial things, I honestly have all I could want for Christmas which I am so thankful for, my family, friends (new and old), my health, and my pets. Merry Christmas everyone!
Happy Holidays
With Christmas fast approaching, many people are still trying to buy gifts for family and friends. I am not one of those lat minute shoppers, I start months in advance to spread out the stress and financial commitment it takes to get everybody a gift. I try to get gifts that the person will really love and use, and maybe something they have wanted but just wouldn’t ever buy themselves. But if you want to avoid the malls and busier shopping areas then I would recommend a personalized gift basket. Think of all the things that person would like, then you can shop at a local drug store or gourmet grocery store. You can even add a gift card to their favourite store in there as well (most Safeways and Shoppers have a huge selection of gift cards!)
My fiance and I did one this year for his dad, he’s hard to shop for and doesn’t “need” anything. We went to a gourmet grocery store-bought his favourite snacks, italian olives, smoked cheese and meats, and a nice bottle of wine, we bought a beautiful red basket (which can be used over and over again) and clear wrap and some festive ribbon from Walmart to create a truly unique and custom gift. I feel it just gives so much more to a person when you custom make the basket yourself, the premade ones are nice but usually the person does not use every single item in the basket. Custom made ones are not only cheaper but are the perfect gift. Last year we did a basket for my mother – in – law, it was totally different tho, it had bath stuff, her favourite chocolates, Nintendo DS games, all things you can pick up at a 24 hr drug store, grocery store or even Walmart. So if you’re in a bind and don’t feel like waiting in line ups at the mall go somewhere with extended hours, buy little things to make a perfect gift basket!
Happy Shopping!
Cavalli – for Pets :D
I love Roberto Cavalli, his dresses are worn by celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Gisele Bundchen and so many more! They are elegant, and beautifully made. Since I have no children yet and can’t enjoy the designer baby clothes that are out there I was so excited to hear that Cavalli was creating a line for pets! From t-shirts, coats and collars now your cat or dog can be high fashion as well. While the stuff is pricey, it kind of makes sence for me to buy my animals designer stuff rather than children since my cat wont ever outgrow his little collar, while kids can grow out of clothes rather quickly. (I guess that’s how I would justify this kind of purchase!
)
While all the items are so cute, I love this paw printed pet jacket for $180.
Party Dresses!
Oh the Holidays are here, and with them come the holiday parties, New Year’s events and work parties. It’s the one time of year you can get away with wearing sequins, sparkles and over the top shine! I love all the amazing fashion that comes out for the holidays! I’ve decided to show some of my favourite party dresses from BCBG!
This youthful dress is from BCBG’s Generation line only $148! I love the sequins and the shape it creates!
Or how about this one from BCGB Runway collection, its tulle and chiffon with beautiful details, a flattering sweetheart neckline, you will stand out in this dress for only $498.
And no Holiday party is complete without a fabulous red dress (mind you I cant wear red … but if I could I would wear this!) It has contrast, lace, overlay, with beautiful finishes. Complete the look of this dress with a simple black pump, don’t over do the accessories as this dress has so much going on! ($598)
Premium Denim
Everyone has those favourite pair of jeans, if you choose the right denim they can last through trends and time. For girls, it’s all about the butt, you know what I’m talking about. We try jeans on and turn around to see if our butt looks good. Today there are so many kinds of jeans out there it can be overwhelming but if you put in the time and effort you can find the perfect pair. And PLEASE keep in mind they don’t have to fit perfect, use your local tailor to give you that custom fit.
Here are a few of my favourite designer jeans (and I know they are amazinggggg for curvy figures)
*True Religion - most are lower rise, I go for the ones with stretch, they are great quality and have the noticeable signature pockets I love! With so many washes, and cuts they are a hot pair of jeans, perfect for going out! They are available in Canada at Holt Renfrew, Underground Clothing and if you’re lucky Winners gets them in sometimes! Cost $225-450
*Paige Premium Denim - these are a more casual jean, a very comfortable jean that can be worn everyday. they were created by a jean fit model who wanted to create the “perfect fitting jean” and a great job she did! So many celebrities wear this brand, like Charlize Theron, Heidi Klum and Taylor Swift. They are available at the same places above. I love mine, they are lined inside the waist which makes they super comfy, and yes they pass the cute butt test too! Cost – around $200 – $275
*Another great thing is that these brands also carry children’s lines, which means your favourite jeans can now become your kids favourite jeans too!!
* 7 Jeans, these are good jeans, they have so many styles, fits, rises and washes that there really is something for everyone. They are comfortable, but nothing special, they don’t have the wow factor that true religions have but they are a good staple in any wardrobe and can be worn through many seasons.
So here’s my final advice, try on alot of pairs, different brands, cuts and washes, and think of a great pair of jeans as an investment, spend a little bit more and you will appreciate them for seasons to come!
Faux Fur is Real Nice
I am so thankful that designers are taking a new route to create the luxurious look of furs. Faux fur is very much in style this winter season, being present in runways across the world.
Who did faux fur best for winter ? … that would have to be Chanel
If you didn’t see this show watch it, it was more than fashion it was a full-out event equipped with icebergs!
Don’t worry as with all fashion trends they have “trickled down” to many other stores. Check out this fur vest only $24 at Forever 21. It’s nice to have trendy pieces but I wouldn’t spend as much money on seasonal pieces. This faux fur vest is fun but I wouldn’t spend a huge amount of money on something that you couldn’t carry through for years to come. I make my investment pieces classic bags, a high quality pair of boots, a stylish modern jacket.
Let’s skip Winter and go straight to Spring!
I know the first day of winter has yet to arrive and I’m already thinking about warmer weather. So I thought I would do a designer spot light on Givenchy, I seen him on the fashion channel, quite an inspiration as he is one of the few designers hiring plus size models for his runway shows. I didn’t know much about his style so I watched some of his runway shows for spring / summer 2011. The line isn’t all ready to wear (atleast not for my lifestyle) but some of the features I like in his show were
* vests, long and short
*exposed zippers
*mix of structure and flowing fabrics
Winter Accessories
* Thin Belts, belt your dress, your longer top, your thick knit sweater or even your coat. This was a very prominent accessory in the Dolce and Gabbana winter 2011 run way show
*scarves – knits! Thick Luxurious scarves, infinity scarves - click the link to check out this cashmere scarf from Neiman Marcus
Scarves are a way to afford a little bit of designer without having to break the bank, most designers have scarves under $200, like the Missoni scarf below, $170 from Neiman Marcus, it will make a statement and add some class to any drab winter day!
Conan is back!
It was quite the epic fight when Conan took over for Jay Leno and then they decided Jay should just take back his job from Conan. And my feelings towards Jay have changed, I mean I used to enjoy the tonight show but after Conan got kicked out of his job I just couldn’t watch it anymore. So I am beyond excited that tonight is the premier of Conan’s new show! I can’t wait for his crazy red hair and hilarious jokes, so I am staying up wayyyy past my bedtime to watch it at 1am tonight. I will let the poor unfortunate people who could not watch the show know how amazing it was later
