Remember there can be too much of a good thing … you want a touch of feathers.. .but you don’t want to end up looking like a bird!! (remember Bjork and her swan dress ???)

Designer Spotlight : Betsy Johnson!

April 6, 2008 at 5:58 am (fashion, trends) (, , , , , , )

After that last depressing post I thought I would cheer things up with a little Betsy Johnson, she is a fabulous designer with tons of fun colourful clothes.

Her prom dresses are popular and super cute, they will cost you about $400. Be prepared for bows, lace and ruffles!!

She also has fun handbags, very reasonably priced (lots under $100). Although this style is not for me, it might fit someone who is a little more excentric in their style choice.

Last Bikini for this week…

March 30, 2008 at 10:26 pm (fashion) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

This is a sexy, original, “monokini” from victoria secret. It comes in this playful Zebra, black or red. It shows off skin without being too provacative. I love this piece! It is great for a little tummy coverage, shows off your back and your boobs, fabulous!! (ooo and how could I forget, only $60~)

swim wear, one style fits all

March 28, 2008 at 2:35 am (fashion) (, , , , , , , , )

I love 2 pieces but thought I would include a universally flattering style, a black one piece. This one is by SO De Mel, it retails for $180. It is low cut and offers more coverage than the 2 piece. So don’t worry about your hips or tummy, this will hide it all. And it’s black, very classic and slimming. The ultra low cut neck line also draws attention to the chest. It’s hot but understated.

Special Feature

March 23, 2008 at 10:18 pm (fashion) (, , , , , , , , , , )

With the  great sunshine we’ve had all week I thought I would start bikini week! I’m going to feature a new bikini everyday this week, tell you who should wear it and who should not and most importantly where to get it!!

Victoria Secret has such great bikinis this year! With so many to choose from its hard to say one is the best but I’ll try.

bikini.jpg

This bikini is great, it’s the new line at VS, Becca® by Rebecca Virtue, it has neutral colouring but the embroidery adds some style and flare. The halter neck is great for a larger chest and the bottoms tie at the side which allows those with bigger to hips to avoid the sides digging in and creating unflattering overhang. Top retails for $60 and the bottoms for $48.

 b-2.jpg

There’s also a top with more coverage for $78. This is good for those who want to hide your tummy area.

And if your thighs and butt are the trouble areas then you can also get the cover up skirt for $58. Which means this bikini can be worn by anyone! Just mix and match the pieces that will work with your body-shape.

LouLou Magazine’s Trend Watch

March 18, 2008 at 5:12 am (fashion) (, , , , )

Canada’s fashion magazine Lou Louhas listed some trends to watch for this spring. runways exploded with bright, citrus hues as the trend in women’s fashions switches gears. Goodbye, gloomy grey and Hello, tropical sunshine! If you see this season’s revival of colour as a breath of fresh air, then you’ll love what the big names like Jil Sander, Michael Kors, Yves St Laurent, Lanvin and Alberta Ferretti are doing with it. Look for stripes or big slabs of yellow, orange and green.

This look is all about not looking severe, so let your hair down and go for sun-drenched exuberance. Accessorize freely with strappy sandals, a chunky chain or big sunglasses and one of the season’s It bags.

Want a bargain? Check out Joe Fashion (at superstore) for some great colourful pieces, the coat above is a steal at $29!. Tip: The quality wont be there, I wouldn’t recommend staple pieces but for fun summer trends they have great pieces to add a pop of colour to your wardrobe.
