My Must Have Makeup Item!

February 20, 2008 at 6:27 am (Makeup, Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

My pick of the week:

Every girl has one beauty item they could not live without, mine happens to be Mac’s Mascara X. It retails for only $15 and is by far one of the best mascaras out there and comes in brown and black. It has a slight roses scent and leaves your eyelashes fuller, longer and softer! No crispy eyelashes here!

Remember all mascaras are not created equally! Some flake off all over, some make your lashes feel like they are covered in lacquer, the good thing about mac is that you can try the item and if it’s not what you like you can return the item (along with your receipt for something else).

Mac’s New Campaign to fight AIDS!

February 12, 2008 at 5:58 pm (Makeup, Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Not only does Mac make you look good but now you can buy …. lip gloss and feel good about it too. I think this is a fabulous campaign of theirs that has been going on for a few years, started with Ru Paul. It gives people a chance to help out towards a good cause while wearing lip gloss personally selected by Fergie ( well I don’t like her that much, or at all actually but the colour is really nice).

They’ve selected a neutral colour that looks good on all skin tones / races. Watch for it for sale soon!

Mineral makeup ..does it really work?

January 25, 2008 at 9:30 pm (Makeup, Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , )

We all want that flawless look, the airbrushed look that the celebs have. But what’s the secret? Some claim mineral makeup will help reduce the look of pores, go on evenly, and be beneficial to your skin instead of pore blocking like the liquid stuff.

I was pretty skeptical at first wondering how powder could cover the flaws but was pleasantly surprised when I tired it. Mineral makeup is talc free, which is the substance in almost all powders that dry out your face and make it look like it’s dull. Mineral makeup is pure pigment that covers fairly well (still not as good as concealer but good enough coverage for most), it leaves your skin looking natural not over done and it goes on smooth. While mineral makeup costs more than the average drug store brand I think it is well worth it. ( I got mine at Costco for a super-good deal $20 for foundation, bronzer and eyeshadow!)

Big Sexy Lips

January 20, 2008 at 7:53 pm (Makeup) (, , , , , , )

Ever wanted big sexy kissable lips like Angelina? I envy those who are blessed with the gift of a great set of kissers because I am not. I’ve tried numerous products to try and temporarily give my lips some extra volume but most do not work. But I found one product that does work for me, while it doesn’t do the same job as lip injections it does make a noticable difference.

Too faced lip injection works amazingly! You can get it in clear gloss or any variety of colours. It’s available at Sephora and online. A small tube of the gloss will cost you about $25 bucks but I think it’s well worth it and alot cheaper than the $500 – 700 it would cost to get real injections. Be aware when you apply it because it does sting and burn a little, but within seconds you can notice a difference.
