More tanning!
SO I’ve covered spray on tans and I thought I would now tell you how to have a great “real” tan.
- Don’t stay in the sun for hours, take breaks, cool off
- Keep hydrated, (might no help your tan but it will help you prevent sun stroke!)
- Moisturize!!
- Moisturize!! this keeps your skin from peeling and keeps your tan lasting longer
- if you do get burned, stay out of the sun until it heals! tanning on sun burnt skin will just leave it looking even worse!
- If you are very pale, still use an spf! you can still get a tan and this way it will occur more gradually rather than burning your first time.
- Try to avoid the sun when it’s at it’s hottest, (usually 11-3). the rays are strong and you can burn easier.
- protect your face!! sun ages the skin and a tanned face can be achieved by using bronzers
- And lastly don’t over tan.. you’ll end up like the lady below ..Yikes!

The secret to glowing skin is …
A great exfoliator! As we age our skin looses the ability to sluff off dead skin, this means dead skin cells are stuck on our face until we remove them manually. This can be done with regular exfoliation to expose the new , glowing skin underneath. I recommend an exfoliator that isn’t too harsh on the skin, it should be gentle while still removing dead skin.
There are 2 major types of exfoliators:
-
scrubs – these physically rub off the dead skin with beads or rough particles, they work fast but aren’t good for sensitive skin or acne prone skin because it can spread bacteria
-
chemical exfoliators – like alpha hydroxy masks are more gentle on the skin since you don’t rub them, you leave them on for 20 minutes or so and the chemicals loosen the dead skin from your face
Skoah offers great exfoliators, all made with natural plant ingredients both cost $30
their face skrub is pinapple sented and the beads are perfectly rounded so they don’t scratch your skin.
and their aha mask has 1% pure alpha hydroxy and works great on acne prone or sensitive skin.
