Sexy Hair for the summer!

March 19, 2008 at 11:01 pm (hair, style) (, , , , , , , )

When the sun is out it is nice to have the light make your hair shimmer and shine. I think everyone should get a few highlights for the upcoming summer season. Those who dare to dye dark can risk the colour fading faster because of the extended hours of and increased exposure to the sunlight. Anyone can add a few honey caramel or shimmering blonde highlights to their hair, got red hair? then go for a strawberry blonde!

Highlights really break up a solid colour, it makes your hair look revitalized, refreshed and sparkley! Be sure to get these done by a professional, baddly done highlights can make solid blotches in your hair, or make your hair turn the wrong colour (like orange ..eeeek!) if you’re not careful. Spend the extra cash and it will be well worth it.

Tip: If you’re really strapped for cash then check out local hair school’s (they usually do a good job, cost ALOT less probably 75% off of what you would pay in a normal salon. Just expect to spend a bit more time in there). There’s LA School of Hair Design in Lethbridge. (my sister goes there!)

Burberry!

February 27, 2008 at 7:40 pm (accessories, bags, style) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

I LOVE designer bags and Burberry happens to be one of those highly recognizable brands. With the signature plaid fabric and European inspiration, they’re hard to pass up.

They have everything, from the classic tote above to scarf, hats, sunglasses, clothing and even perfume. All the products give a little British inspiration. Their bags for me though are too much money for what you get, they range from about $1000 – $3000 (although there are a few cheaper and a few more expensive). Just be careful what you wear the purse with, it would be easy to clash a plaid purse with an outfit

The perfume ranges from $35 – $900 …yes $900 for the Burberry Brit Crystal fragrance.

Desinger Spotlight: Jean Paul Gaultier

February 5, 2008 at 6:07 pm (fashion, style, trends) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

As I was watching the Spring 2008 runway show of Jean Paul Gaultier I couldn’t help but be amazed at his designs. The majority of his show was imperfect designs, with earthy colours and hearty fabrics. It was contrasted by the few “wedding dress” designs created with lace and light fabrics.

He brought fun to the fashion runways with a pirate themed show, not sure how the hats would wear in day to day life but never less it was a great show to watch.

There were also some creative shoes with army inspired prints, while I was inspired at the creativity he expressed in this show I am not sure how “ready to wear” his clothes were. The lines were rough and the overall feel was shabby rather than chic.
