Suck it in! …Ok so that doesn’t always work, but with the growing concern of lumpy bodies and increasingly tight fitting fabrics, we should all look in the way of control undergarments. I didn’t think they could make that much of a difference but SPANX can actually reduce you a whole dress size!!

Fashion Faux Pas!
I don’t know if you feel the same way, but when I am out and I see someone dressed so horribly I wonder; Do they own a mirror? So here I go, I’m just venting about things I HATE seeing:

Socks and sandals .. everyone should agree on this, if you want to wear socks, then wear SHOES!

School themed sweat pants, you know the ones with 2008 or a name across the ass? gross, have you heard of LULULEMON? you can be comfy and not look bad

Runners and dresses … I don’t even know what to say, it’s just tacky … are you trying to run a marathon? probably not so just switch the runners for sandles or heels

Bright pink lip gloss, the frosted kind just looks like an ice cream cone threw up on their face

Guys with overly spiked hair, you’re going to hurt someone with that!

Academy Awards Past Fashion
With the Academy Awards fast approaching I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the fabulous fashions from past years.
2005: Sleek and iridescent, HALLE BERRY’s couture was Atelier Versace. The silk chiffon, asymmetric gown was uniquely combined with a vintage embroidered skirt. Her diamond-encrusted shoes were Stuart Weitzman.
2004: Surprise, surprise, Angelina Jolie, what doesn’t she look fabulous in?? She was in a white silk satin gown by Marc Bouwer. The halter style was sexy with front drape and long back tie. A stellar jewelry choice was H. Stern’s “Athena” necklace
And we can’t talk about red carpet fashion without looking at some of the most unfortunate styles:
A history-making creation from designer Marjan Pejoski, who wrapped a feathered swan’s neck around BJÖRK and layered white tulle for a tutu-like skirt. Not too sure what she was thinking!!
Keisha Castle-Hughes, ooops! She looks like a nun in this outfit…created from layers of pink silk satin topped off with a sheer capelet. She used the whale theme for good luck and chose a whale-shaped hair clip for her side-parted hairdo by Frederic Fekkai.
My Must Have Makeup Item!
My pick of the week:
Every girl has one beauty item they could not live without, mine happens to be Mac’s Mascara X. It retails for only $15 and is by far one of the best mascaras out there and comes in brown and black. It has a slight roses scent and leaves your eyelashes fuller, longer and softer! No crispy eyelashes here!
Remember all mascaras are not created equally! Some flake off all over, some make your lashes feel like they are covered in lacquer, the good thing about mac is that you can try the item and if it’s not what you like you can return the item (along with your receipt for something else).
Mac’s New Campaign to fight AIDS!
Not only does Mac make you look good but now you can buy …. lip gloss and feel good about it too. I think this is a fabulous campaign of theirs that has been going on for a few years, started with Ru Paul. It gives people a chance to help out towards a good cause while wearing lip gloss personally selected by Fergie ( well I don’t like her that much, or at all actually but the colour is really nice).
They’ve selected a neutral colour that looks good on all skin tones / races. Watch for it for sale soon!
Diamonds are my best friend
No outfit is complete without a little bling, some diamond studs, a sparkly pendant or a diamond tennis bracelet. I think that diamonds complete a dressy outfit and make you stand out from the others. There are definitely jewelery items that a girl must have: some perfect hoops, tennis bracelet, and a timeless pendant. You don’t have to spend a fortune on diamonds, there are awesome man made diamonds, swarovski crystal and diamond cut gold that can give you the classy look without breaking the bank.

For those of you who long for real diamonds I recommend Spence Diamonds, you are bound to find something you love, with thousands of designs and open showcases so you can try on any ring you want without having to ask a salesperson to see it!
Holt Renfrew’s must haves
I was strolling through sites and came across Holt Renfrew’s trend guide where they listed the must haves for 2008.
- The full pant
- the neo legging
- the sweater dress

- the bootie
I’m not such a fan of the full pant but sweater dresses are my favourite!! You can get them in any style, material and size, add a belt and you can cover the unflattering areas like your hips or stomach. Holt’s stuff is a little pricey so I recommend BEBE, of course, to get the great sweater dress, flat bag and leggings.
This retails for only $98!
Armani has a great bootie shoe for only $285!
The Little Black Dress
Black dresses, I think every girl has atleast one, and if you’re me you have 10 sitting in the closet with the tags still on. The black dress is timeless and classic, it’s versatile and everyone looks good in black! With so many choices out there it is hard to pick the perfect one, here are some tips I found that can hopefully help you in choosing that sexy black number:
1.Decide what “assets” you want to show off, great boobs? go for v – neck, great back? go for something with an exposed back, have fabulous legs? opt for something shorter, above the knees.
2.Pick a dress made with high quality material, something that wont wrinkle easily, fade or become uncomforatable when you’re out for the evening.
3. Canadian Living magazine tells us to find our body type and choose an appropriate dress for our shape.

Rectangular: You are shaped a little like a boy, no curves here – go for empire style dresses that will make you look like you have bigger boobs and a defined waist.

Hourglass: You are curvy, with a bigger chest, a small waist and curve to your hips. Pick a dress that is A – Line, it is tight on your smallest parts and flows out at your hips

Top heavy: You have wider shoulders and larger breasts – Look for a dress with a draped (perhaps even slightly blouson) top

Bottom heavy: You have wide hips and a slim torso – a dress with a fitted top and straight skirt that is wider at the hip and falls straight

Even working out is becoming a fashion statement
No more over sized t shirts and ugly sweat pants at the gym, with the rise of brands like Lululemon and Lotusthere is a new founded interest in looking great while working out. Personally I love the idea of clothing that you can wear comfortably to the gym but that still looks great if you decide to wear it out as well.
I own a lot of Lululemonand it’s beyond the name and the trend of the brand it is the quality that they offer. I have had some of my pants for 2 years and they still look great, I can wash them dry them and they don’t shrink or fade. Lululemon has made their own fabric Luon which is:
- 86% nylon and 14% Lycra
- wicking and quick dry
- comfortable, matte finish and feels like cotton
- wetDRYwarm
- pre-shrunk
Their stuff is moderately priced at about $100 for pants and $45 for a top but the pieces will last you alot longer then the no name walmart brands AND you will look much cuter too.
