I <3 Versace

November 5, 2010 at 9:27 pm (accessories, fashion) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

What does Donatella Versace have in store for fall winter 2011?

* boots, wear them with everything, and Versace doesn’t make your typical boot check out the ones below .. these would not be for the shy at heart! You can get them online now at Saks Fifth Avenue

* Styles with attitude, leather accents, zippers

* Pops of colour! There needs to be some pops of colour when winter is so drab!

Although most of us can’t afford Versace, we can use the style tips to put together, buy a good pair of boots, they don’t have to be impractical, and leather ones will last longer than synthetic materials. Try looking at Winners, it’s hit and miss but you can find boots at a fraction of the price.  Also check out Army and Navy, I found a pair of Ann Klein leather boots for $60!

Then move onto the outfit, the one above is a Versace jersey dress trimmed with leather. Try finding a lower cost jersey dress and pairing with a unique leather belt. Keep your eye out for fitted silhouttes, skinny pants are still in (which kinna sucks for curvier people like me!) with boots boots and more boots

 :) Happy shopping

One must have this fall according to Isaac Mizrahi

October 27, 2010 at 7:34 pm (shoes) (, , , , , , , , )

Smaller is better?? This fall its not all about the high pumps, or 5″ stilettos, but smaller heels and flats! This is good news to our feet who get squished and smooshed into those crazy high heels.

With fall bringing in military inspiration and warmer colours, I would try another neutral, brown, grey or army green, go a little but out of the box and try to venture from the usual black.

Here’s a pair from Jimmy Choo (for sale on footcandyshoes.com) , that is both classic and trendy, versitile and has a shorter heel.

Fashionistas in training … Baby’s trends

October 22, 2010 at 5:31 pm (fashion) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

I guess I am getting to thay age where my friends are starting families. I have one close friend with an amazing little 5 month old girl and another girl friend expecting in the near future. All I want to do is shop for them and make them fashion forward. Most brands now are providing mini versions of your favorite brands, if you’re a skater DC has mini DC kicks for your kids.

For dressier tastes check out this online store TuttiBella, they have look books and stylish kids clothes.

If you want to go alll out and have a truely designer baby try Snobby Babies, they have everything from bibs to gift sets, blankets, diaper bags and even fashion bottles (like the one shown below).

And if you have endless Pockets like celebrities then you might like the new Gucci Ad, featuring JLo and her twins for the new kids line. Check it out below.  Due to hit stores Spring 2011!

Wedding Fashion

October 21, 2010 at 10:57 pm (Uncategorized)

With my upcoming wedding (Sept 10 2011!!), I have been looking at dresses non stop. I finally picked a dress, well my sister picked it for me because after a few months of looking I never got that “feeling” you’re supposed to get when you find the one.  In any case its beautiful and I love it but commiting to it was hard.  And since I am banned from going into bridal salons to look at anymore dresses I thought I would just look at designer dresses, it cant hurt right? It’s not like I can afford them anyways :P

Let’s start with Pnina Tornai, she has some out there dresses, but she also has some fabulous dresses with some extream prices.  The dress below is from a few seasons ago but is my dream dress! And to make things worse everytime I watch say yes to the dress I see it in the background! Too bad the cost is about the cost of my entire wedding.

And some trends I have noticed while surfing the web and visiting salons, big is NOT in. Its more understated dresses, slimmer silhouttes and subtle details such as ruffles, beading and hand stiched crystals.

Kenneth Pool has some great dresses, not exactly my style but he has very rich looking gowns. Like the one below.

Keep in mind when trying on dresses to love the dress yourself, don’t take in too many opinions but don’t completely ignore the opinions of the very most important people (maybe your mom or sister) If they think a dress is horrible on you ask them for more reasoning, maybe they see something you don’t.

If you are pear shaped (smaller on top and bigger on the bottom), choose a dress that is fitted at the natural waist line and flows away in an A-line shape.

If you’re chesty be careful of how much cleavage you show, a soft neckline is nice (scoop or sweetheart), dont go with deep V it can show too much, and a straight a cross neckline can give you the “uniboob” syndrome.

If you’re straight “cut” add some fun and shape to your figure with ruffles, ruching or stratigically placed details.

I’m Back!

October 21, 2010 at 8:13 pm (bags)

After a long time away from blogging I am back, with hopefully more mature (and more expensive) taste! Since my last post I have graduated from University, moved to Vancouver, got engaged and currently manage a clothing store!

So where do I start?? How about with my very very favorite handbag designer… Michael Kors :) I now own many of his bags and cant stop wanting more.

His bags are classic, appropriate for all ages and will last beyond any short term trends. Below is one of my favourites from his new collection. Under $1000, its affordable (dont worry there are LOTS more under the $500 mark as well)

A steal of a deal!

April 17, 2008 at 8:30 pm (accessories) (, , , , , , , , )

want designer shades? but don’t want to pay full price? While alot of people go on ebay or other online sites, sometimes when spending massive amounts of money on small items I want to make sure I am getting authentic items.

Costco has CRAZY deals on tons of designer shades, Burberry, D&G, Marc Jacobs, and soo much more, they are more than 50% off of prices that appear in Sunglass hut or other specialty places. My sister just bought a sweet pair of Burberry sunglasses for $119!! They retail for almost $300! They had crystal D&G’s for $199, I cant believe the prices on these. So make sure you check our your costco, they get new stock in all the time so check back frequently until you find the shades of your dreams.

Sorry, I have to complain again!

April 8, 2008 at 4:49 am (relationships) (, , , , , , , )

So maybe it’s just the time of year, ending the semester, stressed and just plain tired, but things have been extra annoying lately!

This morning I went to get a coffee at Esquires (in Lethbridge), now I’ve had bad experiences there over and over again but I continue to go back because it’s right by the buses and I only have 5 minutes between buses to grab a coffee.

ANyways .. they always take forever to make a coffee.. even if there’s 4 employees and only 1 customer,,, last week when I went there they made me a latte that wasnt even warm!! They forgot to steam the milk and then this morning I waited sooo long for my coffee and no one was even making it, people that were behind me were getting their food to stay before I got my coffee to go.

Needless to say this annoys me!! And what annoys me more is when I asked if I could please get my coffee because I had to catch my bus, the girl made it finally then slammed it down on the counter without even looking at me.

Trust me, I’ve worked customer service allllllong time and I know customers are annoying but I was just trying to get a coffee before work, wasn’t being rude. Next time I think I’ll try to make it to Penny Coffee house, I LLLLOVE it there!

Here’s some beautiful examples:

Feather madness on the Red Carpet

Remember there can be too much of a good thing … you want a touch of feathers.. .but you don’t want to end up looking like a bird!! (remember Bjork and her swan dress ???)

Designer Spotlight : Betsy Johnson!

April 6, 2008 at 5:58 am (fashion, trends) (, , , , , , )

After that last depressing post I thought I would cheer things up with a little Betsy Johnson, she is a fabulous designer with tons of fun colourful clothes.

Her prom dresses are popular and super cute, they will cost you about $400. Be prepared for bows, lace and ruffles!!

She also has fun handbags, very reasonably priced (lots under $100). Although this style is not for me, it might fit someone who is a little more excentric in their style choice.
